Both Nokia and Samsung will have smartphones with the name “Ace” associated with them at nearly the same time. It is likely that they both will be seen at CES 2012 in a few days. Read on to find out more about the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus smartphone here in this short article.

An Ace For Those With A Weaker Wallet

It must be a big coincidence, but the Nokia and Samsung companies both have a smartphone named “Ace” coming out. The second company also put the name “Plus” on the end of the title. Samsung was first to use the name, so it makes better sense. The “Plus”, by necessity, is bringing in a bit more to the table than its older cousin. It is not a flagship smartphone, but is designed for those who have a smaller budgets. The screen is a typical size for last year and there is no manual keyboard. It does come with a FM stereo radio for listening to local programming.

The Screen Is Typical Fare For Older Models

Since the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus smartphone is designed as a “value added” type of design, the features are limited. The screen is sized at 3.65 inches, which is just above the size of an iPhone screen. It is sporting just 480 by 320 pixels of resolution. Compare that with the 960 by 640 pixels of an iPhone 4 and you get the idea of the lack of clarity. To offset the lack of clarity and no manual keyboard the Ace does have Swype input for typing out emails or texts in a hurry. The display is protected by Corning “Gorilla Glass” for those days when this smartphone happens to slip out of the user’s hands. Screen modes are taken care of automatically by the internal accelerometer.

Android Gingerbread Is Inside

Version 2.3 of Android is installed in the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus. The most modern version, 4.0, may never get to this particular smartphone. Gingerbread is the other name of Android 2.3 and can handle NFC contactless payment systems. This smartphone is not equipped with the correct internal chip to handle such payments. The Ace Plus may also come with a shady user tracking software called “Carrier IQ”. If so, there are apps in the Android Marketplace that will help to locate this and perhaps delete it. Android is also currently enjoying the attention of malicious hackers, so attention to anti-malware software is a good idea for those who will be using the Ace Plus.

The Ace Plus Comes To Market In February

No prices are yet announced for this smartphone. If the Samsung Ace Plus somehow misses CES 2012, expect to see it on shelves in February.
