BlackBerry Torch 9800 Review – Bridging People’s Lives. This bulky device from the Canadian manufacturers of BlackBerry has 3.2in screen that looks larger than it is because of its square LCD screen. With 360 x 480 pixels, I can’t consider this BlackBerry Torch 9800 model to have one of the highest resolution smart phones in the market today. But any smart phone users know that the beauty of the resolution is not on the number, but on the display.
This model of BlackBerry has 16 million vibrant colors. But that’s not just the best thing about the display of the phone, as it also one of the most responsive and reactive mobile phone with a very slight touch with your fingers.
BlackBerry Torch 9800 is one of the drastic developments over the predecessors of Storm 2 because of its SurePress technology.
The LCD screen of the Torch 9800 model affects your typing experience. You can use both the hardware keyboard of the phone and its virtual interface. Its virtual interface has been altered a bit too. You can slide the QWERTY hardware of the phone and switch into its virtual QWERTY mode. You can type in portrait and landscape, and switch between these two by simply sliding the side of the unit. The device’s accelerometer can instantly work to start the keyboard, these will make the keys look larger and easier to use.
However, the BB Torch 9800 phone doesn’t have the automatic text prediction like what iPhone unit does. The unit will automatically give you a list of words you can choose, if you don’t want any words from the selection, you can just tap the space button.
Press to hold the sentence if you want to zoom in one a letter. A slider will also appear, giving you the ease to scroll throughout the whole text.
Personally, I’m a big fan of the BlackBerry’s OS, and as an everyday BlackBeryy 9700 user, I don’t really find the glitches of the phone irritating. The phone is decent enough to work without lags, even when you switch apps or scroll through other homescreens.
The homescreen of BlackBeryy Torch 9700 has been completely changed from its past models. I find the screen a little sensitive though. There are times that some apps would open unexpectedly. You can hide the homescreen by pressing the top of its pop up box.
The browser of BlackBerry Torch 9800 is in OS 6. However, this has always been below the standard when you talk about pre-installed browsers. Despite of its OS 6, it still doesn’t have a Flash support.
The Camera of the unit can stretch far and wide. It also has a podcast blackberry application through its BlackBerry Media Sync.
Battery life of this unit is good. It can reach on standby mode for 336 hours. Way better than its past Storm 2 predecessors that lasts only for 280 hours.
This Torch 9800 may be quite a chunk to carry because of ts 111x62x14.6 mm, but it is one of the strongest competitors in the market. As a regular phone user, this phone offers enough features and apps for personal and business use.
