Kindle Library Lending Release Date. We all are bound to books in some way, whether we are students or working with them in the workplace. One thing we all hate though, is carrying a number of books around the whole day.
Amazon.com has announced that it will launch a new Kindle Library Lending feature, which will allow United States customers to borrow Kindle books from more than 11,000 local libraries to read on the Kindle and free Kindle reading applications.
According to Amazon, the new lending feature will be available to all generations of Kindle devices and free Kindle reading applications.
The new feature will allow users to check out a Kindle book from a local library and start reading the book on any Kindle device or free Kindle app for other devices such as Android, BlackBerry, iPad, iPod Touch, PC, Mac or Windows Phone. According to Amazon, if a Kindle book is checked out again or that book is purchased from Amazon online, all the bookmarks and annotations of a user will be preserved on the book.
Amazon said in a statement that they are working with OverDrive, a leading provider of digital content solutions for more than 11,000 public and educational libraries around the United States, to establish a seamless library borrowing experience to their Kindle customers.
No information has yet been revealed on how exactly the Kindle Library Lending feature will work at libraries in the United States, nor has any pricing information been mentioned by the company.
It is said that Kindle Library Lending will be available later this year to the general public.
